gimp-dds software package provides DDS (DirectDraw Surface) plugin for GIMP, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install gimp-dds
gimp-dds is installed in your system.
Make ensure the gimp-dds package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep gimp-dds *
You will get with gimp-dds package name, version, architecture and description in a table
